Zaqir Virani

I'm Zaqir, a Vancouver-based creative strategist who has never quite been able to see the line between a carefully considered narrative and a revenue target. Turns out, there usually isn't one.

I'm a Partner at SXD, where I lead creative strategy and help brands build and scale the sales and marketing ventures that actually make growth happen. I work somewhere between creative director and sales architect, which sounds like a contradiction until you've watched a well-crafted campaign close a deal.

Before SXD, I spent a decade working across consulting, agency, and product as VP of Strategy at Domain7, VP Business Development at Versett, as Managing Director of Spur Communication, and as an advisor to teams building things worth building. My work has spanned government, tech, nonprofit, and growth-stage companies. The problems were different. The underlying question was always the same: how do you get the right people to pay attention, and then do something about it?

Outside of client work, I design typefaces, play session guitar, and write about the surprising places business wisdom hides. The bookshelf gets longer. The dog-ears multiply.
